Suits Uniform Buyers Guide

Business suits are generally made of either Micro Fibre or Wool Blend fabrics.

Microfibre tends to be the cheaper of the 2 fabrics and wool the more expensive. As a general rule the more wool the suit contains the more expensive it will be but the better quality it should be.

Wool suits are generally more hardwearing and longer lasting than Micro Fibre suits. They also tend to look better as Microfibre often tends to have a “sheen” to the fabric which can increase over time with drycleaning (i.e. it begins to look more and more "shiny".

Whilst it might be possible to wash your pants or skirt, you should never put your suit jacket in the washing machine. Inside the suit jacket there are many layers of fusing, binding, interfacing and padding and when put through the washing machine all these layers will move and shrink or stretch independently of each other resulting in a bad out of shape looking suit jacket.

Please keep in mind that no suit will fit every body shape 100% perfectly. It is quite normal for people to have to have some minor tailoring done to their suit to achieve the fit they prefer.

This might include pant or skirt shortening or lengthening, jacket sleeve shortening or lengthening Some people might even be between sizes so may have to have the whole suit run in.
