Slim or European Fit - a more tapered fitted style
Full Cut - is a fuller more generous cut style.
Ladies Fits

You need to be aware that the cut of the body of all business shirts will vary across brands and even styles within those brands. Please remind staff to use the sizing guides and not just request their “usual” size when ordering a business shirt.
Fabric
Many people seem to immediately ask for 100% cotton business shirts. Generally 100% cotton business shirts do not make for good uniforms as they can be difficult to iron and wrinkle easily. Some 100% cotton shirts are treated with an “anti wrinkle” treatment however this will generally not last for the life of the garment and will deteriorate over washing.
If you ask for a 100% cotton shirt that does not need ironing - we will slap you!
A poly/cotton blend is generally the best fabric for uniforms as it will be less prone to creasing and more robust over time. This is why the majority of business shirts use a poly/cotton blend.
Many people also ask for “non iron” business shirts. The reality is that if you are wearing a business shirt you will need to iron it, even shirts described as being “wrinkle free or wrinkle resistant” will still need to be lightly pressed its just part of presenting a tidy corporate image.
To minimise wrinkles you need to consider how you wash your shirts. If you just throw them in the machine with jeans and leave them in the washing machine wet overnight then the shirt will certainly need ironing. The only shirts that may be able to be left unironed are 100% Polyester shirts which are generally only found in ladies health care ranges but again it all depends on how you wash them. See our document on Garment Care <Click Here> to read more about washing uniforms.
Sleeve Length
Usually Mens business shirts for the most part are only available in long sleeves. The few exceptions being the more casual business shirts which offer a short sleeve option.
Ladies business shirts mainly come in 3/4 sleeves. However there are quite a few options with short sleeve, long sleeve, cap sleeve and even some in sleeveless and 7/8’s sleeve length.
Cuffs
The following are different cuff styles that are used in the construction and styling of shirts.
Standard Cuffs - has a single button or 2 buttons side by side to allow tightening of the cuff
Barrell Cuffs - an extended cuff which can be folded back
French Cuffs - designed to be folded back on itself and worn with a Cuff Link
Roll Up Cuffs- a cuff which is rolled up and generally buttoned onto the sleeve just above the elbow
Duo Cuffs - a slightly wider cuff which has 2 buttons one above the other
Collars
The following are different collar styles that are used in the construction and styling of shirts.
Standard Collar - basic traditional standard collar, the tie fits easily between the collar peak.
Spread Collar - creates a wider gap in the centre of the tie, this is good if you like wearing thick ties or a tie with a bulkier knot.
Open Collar - is usually not worn with a tie as it is a more casual. Generally it does not button all the way to the collar which is the case in many ladies shirts.
Button down Collar - a collar with a small button hole on the tip of each end of the collar, the tips are fastened to the body of the shirt which helps hold the tie in place and keep it aligned, it is also good if you are wearing security ties or clip on ties or if you don’t like your collar flapping around.
